Press Release 50th GST Council Meeting

The following proposals regarding modifications to GST tax rates, trade facilitation measures, and streamline GST compliances measures were made at the 50th Meeting of the GST Council.

Recommendations for Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates

A. Modifications to goods' GST rates

1. It has been agreed to regularize payment of GST on uncooked/unfried snack pellets during the previous period on a “as is basis” and to cut the rate on uncooked/unfried snack pellets, by whatever name called, to 5%.

B. Additional modifications to the goods

1. When imported for personal use, the drug Dinutuximab (Quarziba) will  be exempt from the IGST.
2. It has been determined to exempt IGST from imports of medicines and food for special medical purposes (FSMP) used to treat rare diseases listed under the National Policy for Rare Diseases, 2021, where they are brought in for personal use and in accordance with current laws.
