Apple’s next iPhone 15 is starting to be produced in Tamil Nadu

Apple's next iPhone 15 is starting to be produced in Tamil Nadu

As part of the company’s efforts to close the gap between its manufacturing operations in India and its main production base in China, the next iPhone 15 from Apple Inc. is reportedly now starting the production phase in Tamil Nadu.

According to Bloomberg, the newest iPhone units will soon be shipped from a Foxconn Technology Group facility in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, following their initial release from Chinese manufacturing. According to those familiar with the situation, this approach is intended to quickly increase the number of new iPhones made in India.

In order to expand its manufacturing outside of China, Apple is reportedly engaged in a multiyear plan. Given the growing trade uncertainties brought on by the tensions between Washington and Beijing, this action tries to decrease supply chain vulnerabilities for its essential items.

The government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has worked to promote the nation as a significant manufacturing hub while attempting to deepen ties with the United States.

According to reports, the goal for the current year is to further match the shipping dates from China and India, though suppliers are unsure if they will succeed in doing so. Since it is not made public, the people who provided this information chose to remain anonymous.

According to the report, the availability of components, which will primarily be imported, and the smooth expansion of production lines at the Foxconn facility near Chennai will determine how much of the iPhone 15 will be produced in India.

The new iPhone, which is anticipated to be launched around September 12, will mark a big improvement for the device after a span of three years. The camera system has received a significant update across all variations, and the Pro models will feature an improved 3-nanometer A16 processor.

Since Apple recently reported its third consecutive quarter of declining sales due to lackluster consumer interest in key regions including the US, China, and Europe, the upcoming lineup of smartphones is critical in reviving sales.
